Frodus was a 1990s Washington, D.C.-based hardcore punk band, described by critics as a mixture of math rock and post-hardcore. Their songs were frequently dark and dissonant, considered part of the spazcore genre.
Shelby Cinca played guitar and did vocals, Nathan Burke was bassist and vocalist and Jason Hamacher played on drums. The first Frodus album was a live concert recorded in 1993. Frodus later signed with Tooth and Nail Records, an independent label out of Seattle, with which they released Conglomerate International in 1998. Most of the Frodus' recognition was due to their final album, the 1999 LP And We Washed Our Weapons In The Sea (released under Fueled By Ramen Records), considered by band members their best recorded work.
After Frodus broke up, Shelby Cinca and Jason Hamacher along with bassisit Joe Lally of Fugazi joined to form the band Decahedron. The Out Circuit, Combat Wounded Veteran and Frantic Mantis have since released albums featuring work by one or more members of Frodus.
