"All Night Long"
Song

"All Night Long" is an uptempo song performed by British pop/R&B singer Alexandra Burke taken from her debut studio album, Overcome (2009). The song was written and produced by production team, The Runaways (Rico Love, James Scheffer, Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello).[1]

Background

For its release as the singer's fourth single it was remixed with some of the melodies on the album version removed and it now feature vocals from Miami rapper Pitbull.[2] According to reports it will also serve as the album's second European single.[3] Burke performed the new version (minus Pitbull's vocals) on the semi-final of Dancing On Ice ITV1 on March 21, 2010.[4] The single will be shipped with remixes by Jason Nevins and Cahill.

Music video

The video was filmed in Mid-April and according to a spread in Look magazine was shot in a Hertfordshire mansion in the UK. The video follows the theme of a pool-side party and amongst the back-up dancers it features circus performers as well as appearances from Pitbull who is featured on the single remix. In one scene Burke is seen with "a mohawk, bejewelled eye-lids and long legs in a leather swimsuit".[5] According to the Daily Mail she asked family and friends to help film the clip using 100 pocket video cameras. [6] The video premiered on 27th April 2010 through Vevo.[7]

Reception

Robert Copsey from the entertaiment website Digital Spy gave to the song 4 stars (out of 5) and says that: "Fortunately, the track - much like the video - is the very definition of a summer party stomper. Reswizzled with extra blips and beats from the album version, you'll barely have time to knock back your G&T before the urge to hit the dancefloor kicks in, largely thanks to a chorus that doesn't so much encourage you to raise your arms in the air as command it.".[10]

Charts

"All Night Long" first charted at number 95 in October 2009 before re-entering the UK Singles Chart at 59 in March 2010, following strong digital downloads. Since then it rose to its current peak of 43. The song also entered at 39 on Dutch Singles Chart [11]
