Supafest Australia is a 2010 concert tour by Akon, Kelly Rowland, Eve, Pitbull, Jay Sean, Sean Paul, DJ Nino Brown and Chris Sorbello.
Background
In December 2009 the tour was announced as the "Ladies And Gentlemen Tour", scheduled for February 2010 with Ne-Yo, Pitbull, Kelly Rowland and Chris Sorbello as performing artists[1], but was then renamed into "Jamfest" in February 2010 and rescheduled to April 2010. Due to a potential legal conflict, the promoters changed the name again to "Supafest 2010".[2]
Supafest Australia is going to kick off in Adelaide, April 13, 2010 and end in Perth on April 18, 2010. The tours headlining acts are Akon, Kelly Rowland, Jay Sean, Sean Paul, Pitbull and Eve, but in each city there is going to be a separate opening act.
Tickets for the Sydney show on April 15 were quickly sold out. A second show in Sydney on April 16 has been scheduled due to ticket demands.[3] The organisers of the tour have expanded the Supafest to one show outside of Australia: On April 24 the festival will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka as well.[4]
The Tour
The first artists to be announced for the inaugural SUPAFEST festival features some of the world’s most popular artists today - AKON, KELLY ROWLAND, PITBULL and support from DJ Nino Brown and Chris Sorbello. SUPAFEST promises over 5 hours of non-stop hits and live music. With such a great line-up, there truly is something for every fan of urban pop music
Akon performed for fans in Australia only 6 months ago - he got such a great response, and loved it so much that he’s coming back! Australian fans will also be the first in the world to see Akon’s brand new 90 minute live show performing all the hits we know and love including ’Sexy Bitch’, ‘Lonely’, ‘Don’t Matter’
Kelly Rowland is a multi talented singer/songwriter/TV host and actress who has achieved millions of album sales, smash records and accolades throughout her impressive career. Kelly is about to release her third solo album and is sure to deliver an amazing show for her Australian fans, including the smash single ‘When Love Takes Over’ (with David Guetta).
Australia just can’t seem to get enough of Pitbull! He is still enjoying chart success with ‘Hotel Room Service’ and ‘I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)’. His third single, ‘Shut It Down’ featuring Akon, is already climbing up the urban charts and is sure to be his third smash hit in this country.
Australia's Number One Hip Hop DJ, Nino Brown, is widely regarded, and respected as a true master of the turntable. With numerous accolades planted firmly under his belt, this hip-hop star continues to prove that he’s earned his place in the ranks of Australia’s finest DJs
This festival also introduced new Australian electro pop artist, Chris Sorbello, an artist that you’ll be hearing more from this year. Her debut single ‘So Lonely’, produced by hot local producer, Sam Lamore, was released on April 9 2010.
Controversy
Singer Kelly Rowland reportedly flew into a rage following a flight Down Under on Thursday, berating the Australian cabin crew for treating her entourage like "five-year-old kids". The former Destiny's Child star jetted from Melbourne to Sydney for a gig at the city's Acer Arena, but was reportedly unhappy with the staff onboard the Qantas flight. According to News.com.au, Rowland ranted at flight assistants after disembarking the plane, accusing them of being "rude". She allegedly told reporters, "I found the flight attendants really s**tty. I don't know why. You tell me. "They were very rude to us. That's the first time you'll ever hear me say a curse word. They were just rude to us on the plane. They treated us like five-year-old kids. "I don't know. Every time I've flown Qantas it's always been fantastic. (But this time) it was rather unpleasant."
