The Uproar Festival is a new annual hard rock tour created by John Reese and sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink. The tour was also created by John Oakes, Darryl Eaton and Ryan Harlacher from the Creative Artists Agency, and Perry Lavoisne from Live Nation.[1] Reese is also responsible for creating Mayhem Festival and the Taste of Chaos tour. Uproar Festival is the replacement for Reese's Taste of Chaos tour, as he was "running out of bands that fit within the profile of what Taste of Chaos was."[2]
Uproar Festival is expected to host a number of other activities other than live bands. One such activity is wrestling tournaments presented by Blue Collar Wrestling Alliance. The tournaments are expected to encompass 245 wrestling matches over the seven week tour.[1]
After the December 2009 death of Avenged Sevenfold's drummer James Sullivan, better known by his stage name The Rev, Dream Theater member Mike Portnoy was brought in to finish work on their fifth studio album, Nightmare. Portnoy also became Avenged Sevenfold's temporary touring drummer for all 2010 concert dates.[3] The Uproar Festival will be the first tour featuring the band since Sullivan died. Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows stated, "after recently finishing up our new record we were not sure if we were going to continue touring. We got a call from our friends at Uproar and decided this would be the best way to introduce our fans to the new album."[4]
