August 22: Madras Day in Chennai, India (1639)

Reconstruction of Fort Stanwix

1777 – American Revolutionary War: Benedict Arnold used a ruse to convince the British that a much larger force was arriving, causing them to abandon the siege of Fort Stanwix (reconstructed fort pictured).
1864 – Under the leadership of Henry Dunant and the International Committee of the Red Cross, twelve European states signed the First Geneva Convention, establishing rules for the protection of victims of armed conflict.
1914 – First World War: German forces captured Rossignol in Belgium, taking more than 3,800 French prisoners.
1962 – An assassination attempt orchestrated by the OAS takes place against Charles de Gaulle, although he is uninjured.
2012 – A series of ethnic clashes between the Orma and the Pokomo in Kenya's Tana River District resulted in at least 52 deaths.

Vanity of Mr. Sergio Bessa, of Enabler company

I removed this guy two times because his edits are Non-Enciclopedic Vanity (NEV). Maybe one day, and just maybe, he and anybody else, would deserve a place in wikipedia, but not now. Be aware of this vandal please, there are thousands of people born in Portugal during the 1970s and 1980s who would deserve be in wikipedia exactly like this guy (if not more), and they are not there because they know how childish is this kind of vanity.

'2006 - My Chemical Romance performed at Hammersmith Palais, London' - Is this really notable enough to put on this page?

Two inappropriate 2006 events

1. The definition of planet was not finally changed on august 22, but a day or two ago. 2. I don't know who My Chemical Romance is supposed to be, but I think someone is just advertising.
