Jamie Baldwin, played by Rupert Hill, is a fictional character on the British soap opera Coronation Street.
Character information
Jamie is the son of Danny and Carol Baldwin. He was separated from his mother when Danny left her for new wife Frankie. Jamie grew close to Frankie, and has a half-brother named Warren.
When he first appeared in 2004, the soap's directors considering him a "sex symbol": in his early weeks on the show, he often took off his shirt. He started dating Leanne Battersby, left her briefly for Maria Sutherland, then got back together with Leanne. She then embarked on an affair with his dad. When this was exposed, Jamie broke up with Leanne and disowned Danny. Carol returned and moved in with Jamie and Frankie. He is supporting her during her attempts to give up drinking, but she is repaying him by underhandedly destroy his relationship with Frankie. He has failed a rebound romance with Joanne.
Jamie has been criticised for both his unusual hairstyle and his cockney accent, which is out-of-place on Coronation Street. In late 2005, he cut his hair shorter, with positive responses from viewers.
