Saduria entomon |
Saduria entomon (Template:Lang-fi, Template:Lang-sv) is a benthic isopod, or an "aquatic sow bug", common in the Baltic Sea. It is one of the Baltic's glacial relicts, which dispersed to the Baltic pool in the end of the last ice age around 5000 BCE. Saduria is one of the largest crustaceans in the Baltic Sea, the largest ones in the deeps of the Gulf of Bothnia being almost 10 centimetres (4 in) in length.
S. entomon is a predator that feeds on other benthic animals, such as Monoporeia affinis. It has also been observed to be a cannibal as well as a carrion eater.
