Deir Yassin, also Dayr Yasin, was an Arab village that was captured by Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. It is most known for the massacre committed there by the paramilitary groups Irgun and Stern Gang, as a result of which the village was raized and de-populated, with varying estimates of between 100 and 250 civilians killed.
