Kabirwala is a town of Khanewal District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The town is the headquarters of Kabirwala Tehsil, an administrative subdivision of the district. [1] Kabirwala lies 10 km north of the district capital Khanewal on the Multan-Jhang road. Kohiwala is major town sited along the Multan road.
History
The city is named Kabirwala after Hazrat Baba Pir Kabir, who lived in the area.[citation needed] The city also contains a historic tomb of Hazrat Khaliq Wli, in Mauza Khati Chore (along Multan- Sarai Sidhu Road, 24 Kilometers in west of Kabirwala city. Kabirwala is also historically popular for having two Shamshan Ghaats, Ram Chotra and Lachman Chotra, along the bank of Ravi river. There is a Mandar building in Sarai Sidhu, a sub town of Kabirwala. Sarai Sidhu, a historic city, used to be the tehseel headquarter of the whole district Khanewal, before 1937. The famous saint Abdul Hakim and his tomb is also located in this area in a sub tehsil city of Abdul Hakim. Mr. Mehmood ul Hasan, a renowned Agri scientist and research specialist, working at University of Bonn (Germany) also born and completed his early education from this city. There are two colleges in the city, for male and female students. In the male college Professor Allah Ditta Sajid is the principal.
