The Southern Islands series is a family of GPUs developed by AMD graphics products division. Products are expected to release in late 2010.

Early Details

Details were scarce, rumours suggested the core elements would not be changed, but the "uncore" part will have major changes.[1][2][3] The chip is going to be a hybrid between the Radeon HD 5000 series and the Northern Islands family. The GPU family will be made on TSMC 40 nm.

Some of the names for the Southern Islands GPU family are said to be based on Vancouver, Canada such as Whistler-Black, Robson and Seymour. ATI Southern Islands code names leak
