Mary Shelley's Frankenhole[1] is a stop-motion animated TV series by Dino Stamatopoulos, creator of Moral Orel. Ten 15-minute episodes are set to air on Cartoon Network's late night programming block, Adult Swim. Frankenhole premiered on June 27, 2010.
Overview
Mary Shelley's Frankenhole is about Dr. Victor Frankenstein, the genius scientist from the novel Frankenstein who has since completely mastered immortality and now has also created an infinite number of portals (or "Frankenholes") connecting his small, Eastern European village (which is teeming with monsters and supernatural forces) to every time period from the past and the future, allowing historical figures and celebrities seeking the Doctor's services to find him. Although many classic Horror monsters are present, most focus is put on Dr. Frankenstein and his family due to, as creator Dino Stamatopoulos claims "Regular human beings are the monsters."[2]
The show is an extended parody of the book Frankenstein, bearing Mary Shelley's name and featuring many characters from the novel, such as Dr. Frankenstein and Elizabeth. It is named for the wormholes that allow for time travel in the TV series.
