I think that including these topics is a good idea for the article, but the recent inclusion currently reads like a wholesale cut-and-paste from the source. Normally these types of sections are summarized from the source. Please see Wikipedia:Summary_style. Unless someone voices a rationale in the next three days for inclusion of the entire text, I will summarize those parts for the sake of readability. :Actually, the more I read these additions, the more I'm questioning why some of them need inclusion at all. While the faculty information section and a student information section would have information unique and relevant to the college, the full mission statement alone takes up the entire length of a web browser - this doesn't help readability. Moreover, much of what is included in the mission statement (e.g. "Offering a limited number of baccalaureate programs and upper-division courses to meet the educational, civic, and economic needs of the community and region") isn't really that notable since similar institutions have virtually identical missions. The values section and the strategical goals section also suffer from similar problems with being just like other institutions' values and strategic goals. If anyone can discuss why those sections should not be summarized, if not eliminated altogether, please do so here. |

:The vision statement on the other hand seems to be a blip of a section. If this isn't eliminated, I think that it should be merged with another section. In fact, I'm even entertaining the act of, if not outright elimination, then a merger of the mission and vision statements and the values and strategic goals into one section in the entry. Say, "Institutional Statements" or somesuch. I would feel more comfortable with either eliminating these parts or merging them together with input from other Wikipedians, so please speak up if you feel the need. |

:The entry had an appropriate (if not that stellar) lead section what was shoved down to near the bottom of the entry; this should be placed towards the top. Also, I think the history section should stay, be summarized in its current form, and follow the lead section rather than be the first section in the entry. Much of it can be eliminated for readability's sake, such as information on the student parking deck. How is that substantively historical? Also, some of this section isn't historical at all, but describes events taking place in the future (e.g. the academic building that will open in fall 2011) and therefore belongs in another section. Moreover, other parts of the history section such as a mention of the Bachelor of Arts in Human Services Delivery and Administration really needs to go into a separate section on academics. |

:Again, I will make these changes in the next few days unless someone can offer some helpful suggestions. 77.68.106.13 (talk) 19:46, 13 July 2010 (UTC) |

Faculty Information
I added information about faculty salaries today, but if anyone could add more info about GSC faculty from sources like USG about types of degrees held (Masters vs. Ph.D.s), adjuncts vs. full-time faculty, number of faculty in different schools and departments, faculty hiring and retention, or anything else, that would be great. 77.68.106.13 (talk) 02:44, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- I invite everyone to feel free and welcome to add more verified information about Gainesville State College to this entry. However, please do not delete verified information about the college. It is unhelpful. Thank you! 77.68.106.13 (talk) 12:27, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I've added information on faculty degrees, work status, demographics, ranks, and tenure status. If anyone wants to add more about faculty, and even add a section on student characteristics, that would help get this entry out of the "stub" category. 77.68.106.13 (talk) 15:41, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
History, College Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Goals
I think that including these topics is a good idea for the article, but the recent inclusion currently reads like a wholesale cut-and-paste from the source. Normally these types of sections are summarized from the source. Please see Wikipedia:Summary_style. Unless someone voices a rationale in the next three days for inclusion of the entire text, I will summarize those parts for the sake of readability. 77.68.106.13 (talk) 18:20, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, the more I read these additions, the more I'm questioning why some of them need inclusion at all.
- The vision statement on the other hand seems to be a blip of a section.
- The entry had an appropriate (if not that stellar) lead section what was shoved down to near the bottom of the entry; this should be placed towards the top.
- Again, I will make these changes in the next few days unless someone can offer some helpful suggestions. 77.68.106.13 (talk) 19:46, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
