Children’s author and illustrator Kate Veale is well-known for her Country Companions and Oliver Otter books.
Her latest creation Mr. Moon has taken Kate into the world of animation. Mr Moon made his debut on Disney Playhouse in June 2010 and will go on to be broadcast around the world.
Described as the modern day Beatrix Potter Kate signed an exclusive contract with Gordon Fraser and created the Country Companions line.
Kate went on to create the Oliver Otter and Friends concept. She wrote and illustrated 4 books and a Christmas Special published by Boxtree an imprint of Pan McMillan in 1994. There was a spin- off merchandising and licensing program.
Kate has also created other characters such as Big Blue Little Pink, Double Ducks and others.
Kate created Mr. Moon in 1999 and wrote and illustrated 4 books with a view to promoting the series as a total concept with an animated series at the core.
With the difficulties of funding and broadcasting schedules to contend with it has taken 10 years for Kate to see her dream come true.
As the creator, art director and instigator of many of the storylines, Kate has been lucky to work with a very talented and dedicated team. Between them Mr Moon has been brought to life.
Kate is currently also working on creating new properties.
