Matthew "Mdot" Finley (born July 12, 1987),[1] who performs under the mononym "Mdot", is an American R&B recording artist, musician, songwriter, actor, dancer and record producer. He is best known for his lead role as Luke Williams in the upcoming sequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam coming out September 3, 2010.[2]
Early life
Finley was born in Dayton, Ohio[1] to Anthony Finley and Rhonda Charmaine Allen. As an only child groomed for success, as early as 10 months Mdot had already appeared in his first commercial and print ad and still continues to appear on countless radio, TV and print ads nationally. Matthew carried his exposure to the camera, along with his musical abilities and created a piece of the formula that has fashioned and defined Mdot. Matthew is a also an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he attend on a partial scholarship.Mdot also appeared in Maury and was proven to be he father of a woman named Jasmine's baby.[1]
Musical career
As a true vocalist that plays five instruments (piano, sax, drums, bass and guitar), Mdot also writes all of his songs and has a large publishing/song catalog ranging in genre. Appearing on MTV's TV Show Becoming, Mdot has toured and served as an electrifying opening act for artists ranging from Marques Houston, Day 26 , Fanny Pak, Lil' Mama, Ciara, Yung Joc, Dem Franchise Boys, Rick Ross, and Lil' Romeo to Temptations, Ruff Endz, Howard Hewitt, Talib Kwali and Mos Def.[1]
Acting career
Appearing in his first lead role Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, along side co-stars Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas, Meaghan Jette Martin, and Chloe Bridges, Mdot (Luke Williams) plays a hotshot performer who challenges Camp Rock to a musical showdown to see which camp really has the stronger musical talent.[3]
