Buffered charcoal yeast extract (BCYE) agar is a selective growth medium used to culture or grow certain bacteria, particularly the Gram-negative species Francisella tularensis, Legionella pneumophila and Haemophilus influenzae.[citation needed]
It has also been used for the recovery of Acanthamoeba keratitis.[1]
