Nieva

Nieva (English: Snows), is a commercial Spanish rock group formed in the 2000s by Noemí Carrión (singer, songwriter & recording artiste) and Antonio Escobar (composer, multi-instrumentalist & producer) [1]. Their musical sound takes an innovative step beyond Spanish pop-rock, fusing electric guitars and electronica.

Biography

Formation

Nieva was launched in 2004 after Antonio Escobar [2] and Noemí Carrión met in a recording studio and immediately felt a creative spark between them. After 3 years of development and recording, the group began to perform live concerts throughout Spain.

Recent activities In 2007, Nieva toured the cities of Spain with a full band [3], before recording and producing their first album “Sed De Mar (Sea Of Thirst)” (Antipop), for future release. In 2009, the group returned to the studio to create the final mixes and master of the debut album, for imminent launch.

Antonio Escobar

He began as a sound engineer and producer for the singer Manzanita, and later as a producer and composer in ASK Estudios, the studios of producer Alejo Stivel. Escobar was one of the first artistes in Spain who dared to merge electronics and rock with his band Maydrïm [4], which received awards on several occasions, also producing for group Nomadas. He has composed music for more than 100 publicity campaigns, including Coca Cola, Amena, Renault, Endesa, Ford, Pepsi, Larios, Caja Madrid, Movistar, Carlsberg, Peugeot and Telefónica, winning numerous music and advertising industry awards.[5] He currently combines Nieva with his work as a music producer in rock, advertising, TV and cinema, in his own studio, Antipop.[1]

Noemí Carrión

Noemí Carrión, is a singer, songwriter, recording artiste, producer and actress who began her musical career at the age of 16 in her native Alicante. At 21, she moved to Madrid to study music, percussion, dance and dramatic art, and to develop her songwriting and vocal performance. She has been a member of the chorus for diverse and well known artists, and is the voice of many television commercials and movie soundtracks. Carrión has sung in various bands covering all styles, especially pop-rock, with musicians from Social Security, UB40, Revolver etc, and was also a finalist in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. In addition to solo works released independently, in 2002, she released, “Friday Night Forever” (Sony Music) under the alias Naymi, which topped the charts of Máxima FM). She was personally selected by Brian May to interpret Meat Loaf, a co-starring role in his musical “Queen: We Will Rock You”,[6][7] where she did a solo interpretation of the Brian May ballad “No One But You” which received excellent artistic criticism by the Spanish press.[8] In 2006, Naymi’s spectacular pop-dance rendition of ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” (Blanco Y Negro, Spain, and Mas Label, Mexico),[9] also produced by David Ferrero, was released with group Mito, and like “Friday Night Forever”, was well-received on the radio airwaves. In 2009, digital Italian label, Wondermark s.r.l., released the pop samba track “Rio de Janeiro” by group Sugar Reef, featuring Naymi, distributed in digital stores worldwide. Currently, Carrión is devoted to Nieva, while dedicating her whole life to music.
