Welcome!

Hello, Busjack, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Karmafist 20:44, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RTA GAC nomination

I notice that you have done some good work at Regional Transportation Authority (Illinois). I just assessed it as B-class. It is well-written and well-cited. It just needs a few images, which can be found in other Service Board articles and articles for various lines and stations thereof.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 16:36, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reports to WP:AIV

Hello. In case you didn't know, when posting reports to WP:AIV it's better to use the reporting template than to just post the name or IP address of the user concerned, as you did with 64.107.129.239. When you click on "Edit" you'll see a bit saying :

Anonymous Users (IP addresses)
* {{IPvandal|IP address}} brief reason for listing (keep it short) ~~~~
Registered Users:
* {{Vandal|username}} optional brief reason for listing (keep it short) ~~~~
* {{Userlinks|username}} optional brief reason for listing (keep it short) ~~~~

Just copy the relevant line (in this case the line about the IP vandal, and replace the second part of the inner brackets with the IP address (or username, as the case may be), put your reason, then post the edit.

* {{IPvandal| 64.107.129.239}} Vandalism past final warning ~~~~
That way it generates a report that looks like this :

which makes it much easier for admins to see the details of the user concerned at a glance. Thank you for your efforts, and if you've got any questions or problems don't hesitate to leave me a message on my talk page. GBT/C 20:48, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Northbrook, Illinois

"However, in the future, you will not be piggybacking on my work. Sorry." - No, it's not your work, and it's not my work. It is work belonging to the Wikimedia Foundation.

I think the "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here. " statement that is below the "Save page" button explains it all very well.

"since you think it is so important to note one block of Forest View Drive in a Wheeling Twp. school district, and put fact tags on everything" - It really is that important.

"I have also removed any illustrations I added to the article, " No. Your illustrations are staying, and will stay. Once you contribute content to Wikipedia, it stays on there forever. You cannot revoke it.

  • You put licensing tags on some of the works, at least: http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=File:NorthbrookWelcomeSign.jpg&diff=129323240&oldid=59357638 WhisperToMe (talk) 20:07, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Once you license a work as GDFL and/or CC, and the text under your contributions had always said that, your works are non-revocable. I apologize for the inconvenience. However the contributions are communally owned by the Wikimedia community, and not by any one person.
    • I do not own the Northbrook, Illinois article, nor do I own any of the articles that we contribute to. Nor does anyone own any article on here. This applies to you and me. We are not "stealing" images or any content from you
    • Wikipedia, like any group, has its own way of doing things, its practices, and its norms. Wikipedia would not impose its practices on the encyclopedia of your employer's. Likewise we would ask your employer to respect our rights in return. As a writing community with works published under free licenses, some things will be different than you are used to in your employer's environment.
    • Even though your works will remain on here, you do not have to contribute anything else if you don't want to. We need to use a conciliatory approach instead of an adversarial approach. Thank you,
    • WhisperToMe (talk) 20:09, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinitely blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia as long as the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. –MuZemike 20:18, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Z7

You were already warned that you cannot revoke your contributions under the CC-BY-SA license, but you refused to understand this. Not only can we not allow users to contribute to edit without this understanding, but you also made a clear and unambiguous legal threat here. If you withdraw your legal threats and your intentions to revoke your contributions, we will consider unblocking. Regards, –MuZemike 20:18, 16 August 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Request reason:

your reason here It appears that I wasn't making threats, only promises. However, if it is Wikipedia's position that some kid can violate my copyright, and I can't edit after that, PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=your reason here It appears that I wasn't making threats, only promises. However, if it is Wikipedia's position that some kid can violate my copyright, and I can't edit after that, PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT. |3 = ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.
