CHERUB: Shadow Wave is the twelfth novel in the CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore. The book follows the general style of the previous books. On the official CHERUB forums, Robert Muchamore stated that there is a marriage in the book (presumably it will be a mission controller or other adult role, or a reference to the future). Robert Muchamore stated that Dana Smith will be seen at the wedding reception.[1]
Blurb and Information
After a tsunami causes massive devastation to a tropical island, its governor sends in the bulldozers to knock down villages, replacing them with luxury hotels.
Guarding the corrupt governor’s family isn’t James Adams’ idea of the perfect mission, especially as it’s going to be his last as a CHERUB agent. And then retired colleague Kyle Blueman comes up with an unofficial and highly dangerous plan of his own.
Muchamore has stated on the official Cherub website that the books will see James Adams meet his real dad. He will also learn that he has a brother and a half sister (other than Lauren). The father of his half-sister Lauren, Ronald Onions, will be released from prison, there is a wedding between retired Cherub agents and James must choose between his loyalty to Cherub and his loyalty to friend and ex-Cherub Kyle. At the end of Brigands M.C, it also said that in the beginning of Shadow Wave, James will get back on his ER5 and finish loose ends for Brigands M.C [2] James and Kerry are on a mission to put the Fuhrer behind bars and they succeed.[3]
Dana has retired by Brigands MC and is seen briefly at a campus wedding reception in Shadow Wave, when she comes back along with several other retired agents.
In the epilogue of the book it is said that Bethany Parker is expelled from CHERUB because she breached security by having a relationship with someone she met on a mission.
Release information
The book was released on August 26th 2010 in hardback edition, as well as September 2nd in some locations. The release date of the paperback version is unconfirmed but cited as being around May 2011.[4]. A special edition of the book is available at W H Smith with an orange cover [5]. The book is the second (after Brigands M.C.) to be released in hardback format, the RRP in the United Kingdom is £12.99.[4] The book is the last to feature the present list of main characters.[4]
The CHERUB series will continue with a set of three new novels, featuring a new set of main characters with appearances from some in the original series. The first of these titled 'People's Republic' is scheduled for release in August 2011 (a year after Shadow Wave).[6]
