About IBEC
The Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC) was formed in 1993 as a result of a merger between the Confederation of Irish Industry (CII) and the Federation of Irish Employers (FIE). With the CII founded in 1932 and the FIE founded in 1942, IBEC has extensive experience of working with Irish industry.
Today, IBEC is the voice of Irish business and employers both nationally and internationally. It represents the interests of over 7500 organisations, of all sizes, in all regions and across all industry sectors. IBEC helps create and sustain the conditions in which businesses in Ireland can compete and prosper for the benefit of all. Up until 2010, IBEC was a key social partner in the social partnership process.
Advocate for business
IBEC supports employers on all aspects of managing people. It also works on key business issues including the economy, transport infrastructure, international trade, social affairs, environmental management, energy and European Affairs.
Industry level representation
IBEC is the umbrella group for over 60 business associations including:
- Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland;
- Financial Services Ireland;
- Food and Drink Industry Ireland;
- ICT Ireland;
- Irish Medical Devices Association;
- PharmaChemical Ireland;
- Retail Ireland;
- Small Firms Association and
- Telecommunications and Internet Federation.
How is IBEC governed?
IBEC's policies and procedures, set by the national council and the IBEC board, are implemented by an executive management group.
