Washington County Commuter Rail is a proposed 14.7 mile commuter rail line in suburban Portland, OR along the Highway 217 corridor. The trains will operate only during weekday rush hour in peak direction on existing freight rail tracks operated by the Portland & Western Railroad. After years of delays due to struggles over funding, the line is scheduled to open in Fall 2008 serving Wilsonville, Tualatin, Tigard and Beaverton (where the commuter rail line will connect with the existing MAX light rail system). Construction will begin in mid-2006 and has already received the endorsement of the Federal Transit Administration who will fund approximately 50% of the line's capital costs.
