Liteyny Avenue (Template:Lang-ru) is a major avenue in Central St.&nbps;Petersburg, Russia. The avenue extends from the Liteyny Bridge and runs to the Nevsky Avenue.
"Liteyny" means "foundry", and is one of the oldest names in Saint Petersburg. The avenue got its name in 1738, after a large foundry (established in 1711). There was made a ride in the forest from the foundry to the Bolshaya Perspektiva which was eventually renamed Liteyny Avenue.
After the October Revolution the avenue was named Volodorskogo Avenue (after V. Volodarsky). In 1944, the historic name was restored.
