Andrew Berardini (born 1982) is an American art critic, writer, and curator of contemporary art. He has published articles and essays in publications such as Fillip (Vancouver), Artforum (New York), X-TRA (Los Angeles), Artnet, Frieze (London), MOUSSE (Milan), La Stampa (Turin), Paper Monument (New York), Angeleno (Los Angeles), Art Review (London), Style and the Family Tunes (Berlin), Rolling Stone (Italia), Art Lies (Houston), LA Citybeat (Los Angeles), LA Weekly (Los Angeles), and Afterall (London/Los Angeles).[1]. A graduate with an MFA from the School of Critical Studies at California Institute of the Arts, Berardini has lectured on Art History and Cultural Production at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc)[2], and has givn guest lectures at Otis College, UCLA, and Universität für angewandte Kunst, Vienna, amongst other places. He previously held the position of Assistant Editor of Semiotext(e) Press.[3] Berardini was recently Adjunct Assistant Curator at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena and is currently Los Angeles Editor for Mousse and Senior Editor for Artslant.[4][5][6]

Recent Projects

Berardini was a translator of the 2008 American edition of Jean Baudrillard's In the Shadow of the Silent Majorities, a contributor to the catalog of the 2008 California Biennial, and as research editor for the non-fiction book David Wojnarowicz A Definitive History of Five of Six Years of the Lower East Side.[7] [8][9] As Adjunct Assistant Curator at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, Berardini curated original projects include "The mullerstudio Musical Library" with artist Dave Muller in September 2008, "Camilo Ontiveros: Deportables" in Spring 2009, a collaboration between Yoshua Okon and Raymond Pettibon titled "Hipnostasis" in Summer 2009, and in September 2009, a never-before-produced public skywriting piece by Bruce Nauman.[10] In 2010, Berardini curated a solo project with Emily Mast at Steve Turner Contemporary[11] and a group show titled "Project and Assignments" on distribution strategies in conceptual art at the artists' space Saprophyt in Vienna.[12] In October 2010, Berardini penned a monograph on the work of Los Angeles artist Richard Jackson, published by the Rennie Collection in Vancouver.
