History
The multicampus Cleveland Chiropractic College system has been providing health care education for more than 85 years.
In 1922 Dr. C.S. Cleveland Sr. and Dr. Ruth R. Cleveland, husband and wife started Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City with three students. As the next generation of doctors of chiropractic, their son, Carl Jr., and his wife, Mildred Allison, assisted in the growth of the profession and the College. Ratledge College was founded in 1908 in Guthrie, OK and moved to Los Angeles in 1911. It came under the leadership of the Cleveland family in 1950 and was renamed Cleveland Chiropractic College of Los Angeles in 1955.2 The college relocated to its current Los Angeles location at 590 North Vermont Ave. in 1976.
Today, the grandson of the founders, Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III, is continuing the tradition as president of the multicampus Cleveland Chiropractic College system. A fifth generation chiropractor, Dr. Ashley Cleveland, serves as multicampus provost.
