Darren Billy, Jr. (born January 23, 1985), better known as Lab Ox (Template:Pron-en), is an American hip-hop, R&B, and pop producer from Houston, Texas, by way of New Orleans, Louisiana. He has produced for artists and groups such as 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, G-Unit, Drake, and more. He is currently signed to Jay-Z's record label Roc Nation.
Early life and career
Born in New Orleans, Lab Ox moved to Houston at the age of 4. His parents first introduced him to a Casio keyboard at the age of 6, and since, he has taught himself how to play several instruments, including the trumpet, guitar, and piano.
He got his first start in the record business with 50 Cent as a producer on G-Unit artist Young Hot Rod's demo project[1]. In 2006, he landed a production deal with G-Unit Records, which later led to him producing a diss record 50 Cent released on August 17, 2007, aimed at Lil Wayne entitled "Part Time Lover" [2]. The record would later be featured on the mix-tape "Sabrina's Baby Boy", the last in the "G-Unit Radio" mix-tape series[3].
