Kevin Hofland (born 7 June 1979 in Heerlen) is a Dutch footballer who has played as a centre back for AEK Larnaca on loan from Dutch Eredivisie club Feyenoord.
Early life
Hofland is born in Heerlen, but grew up in Brunssum, Limburg, The Netherlands.
Club career
SV Limburgia
Hofland joined local Brunssum club SV Limburgia at the age of 4.
Fortuna Sittard
At the age of 10, Hofland joined the professional club Fortuna Sittard. Hofland played on various positions in his youth career, mainly as a left midfielder or left back. At the age of 16 youth manager Henk Duut turned Hofland into a central defender, the position he's playing on in the remaining part of his career.
On September 10, 1997, Hofland made his debut in Fortuna Sittard's first team in the Eredivisie away match against Sparta Rotterdam (1–1).[1] When Jürgen Dirkx left Fortuna Sittard to join PSV, Hofland became a regular starter in the first team's line-up.
PSV
After playing in Sittard for 3 seasons, Hofland was picked up by PSV. Despite his young age and the heavy competition within the team, Hofland quickly became an important player in PSV's defence. After a major ankle injury in a Champions League match against Arsenal F.C., Hofland lost his place in the first eleven to Wilfred Bouma. When PSV announced the arrival of Alex from Chelsea F.C., Hofland decided it was time to leave PSV.
VfL Wolfsburg
Former PSV manager Eric Gerets was one of the main reasons for Hofland to join VfL Wolfsburg. Hofland played 3 seasons for the German club.
Feyenoord
On June 28, 2007, Feyenoord announced the arrival of Hofland to the Rotterdam club, where he signed a 4 year contract. In his final contract season, 2010-2011, he was loaned to cypriot side AEK Larnaca, which he was named captain of the team.
International career
On November 15, 2000, Hofland played his first international match. He started in the friendly away match against Spain (1–2). In total he played 7 matches for Oranje.
Personal life
Hofland is married to Jenny. They have three sons, Dylan, Milan and Levi.[2]
