E! Entertainment Television Inc. is a cable television, direct broadcast satellite and Internet programming service based in Los Angeles, California's Miracle Mile neighborhood.
History
The company was founded in 1987 as the Movietime channel, the forerunner to the E! network, a 24-hour channel dedicated to covering the American film industry.
Corporate ownership
Until 2004, E! Entertainment Television was majority owned (79.2 percent) by a joint venture between Comcast and Capital Cities/ABC. The remaining 10.4 percent in outstanding shares was owned by Liberty Media. Since 2005 is owned by Viacom, Inc.
