Studies in Language is an international peer-reviewed journal of linguistics as viewed from discourse-pragmatic, functional, and typological perspectives. It has been published by John Benjamins since 1977. Its managing editors are Prof. Bernard Comrie (University of California, Santa Barbara and Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology) and Prof. Balthasar Bickel (University of Leipzig). Recent volumes (from 2000 on) are accessible online with subscription via IngentaJournals.

This journal, along with Linguistics and Philosophy, is a continuation of the journal Foundations of Language (1965 to 1976).
