This page is an incomplete list of proposed mergers. Anyone may list any article merger proposal here. This is optional, and does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s} to the articles before listing them here.

In general, this page should be used primarily to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers (particularly those of a controversial nature), or assistance with difficult or complicated mergers. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved.

After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below. If you want to show off your work, use the talk page.

• American_Fork into American_Fork,_Utah - I didn't know about the existence of the latter when I created the former. I was new at this, sorry. The former has very little content, and nothing at all that the latter lacks.
• Wang Meng (speed skater) into Wang Meng (athlete) - I just started the athlete page after following a link off 2006 Winter Olympics... and browsing Short_track_speed_skating_at_the_2006_Winter_Olympics lead me to Wang Meng (speed skater). • Electron shells and energy levels describe exactly the same thing, but each article has its own info. (Shells article is now included in "electron configuration" article, ans so should "energy level")
• Canadian National Railway Company and Canadian National Railway . Obviously the former is redundant. Intangible 13:36, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
• Consanguinity and Cousin chart. A cousin chart is a Table of Consanguinity, and it would make more sense for the consanguinity article to encompass both. Right now it's confusing. --Doctorcherokee 02:21, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

January 2006

• Triple Crown Champion and TNA Triple Crown should be merged together, as there is not enough content to warrant a separate article for one wrestling promotion's triple crown. kelvSYC 16:46, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

• RAIN (Singer) and Rain (singer) are about the same person. Someone who has familiarity with the topic should decide how best to merge them.--ThreeAnswers 09:14, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

• The article Kawaii (Japanese for "cute") is essentially a dictionary definition bolstered by assorted trivia. In Japan, the cuteness fetish is a distinct and interesting phenomenon which could be mentioned under Culture of Japan, but it doesn't merit a separate article under the Japanese word for "cute". • It appears that Solar Tower and Solar Tower Buronga are both about one and the same structure that hasn't even been built yet. In addition there is already a third article about solar chimneys in which the generic concept of a Solar Tower is discussed. I would suggest have one Solar chimney article devoted to the concept only, and one other Solar Tower article devoted to the proposed commercial realization and construction of one of those structures in Australia. • The Heartbreakers needs to be merged into Johnny Thunders, mainly because the Heartbreakers were part of Mr. Thunders' history, not the other way around, and most of the Heartbreakers' history (with the exception of their seminal L.A.M.F. album) would be better covered as part of the Thunders article. • Luis Ponce de León needs to be merged with Fray Luis de León, as the articles both refer to the same person, but the first incorrectly lists a "Ponce" in his name. I'd do it, but am not comfortable with wiki to do so yet Murcielago 15:57, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

• Rockman EXE N1 Battle should be merged with MegaMan Battle Chip Challenge as it is the same game in two different languages.-NeedlerFanPudge

• Andrea Moda should be merged with Andrea Moda Formula, and the first one converted to talk about the shoe firm Andrea Moda (see )--Bobo italy 12:31, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

• Quahog and Hard clam describe the same species, but contain different information. REwhite 22:35, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

• Islamofascism (term) to be merged with Neofascism and religion. This is a proposed move that has some dispute as seen on Talk:Islamofascism (term), any and all input on the merger is desired.--Tznkai 22:38, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

• EroGuro and Ero-guro. Both refer to the same thing. Ketsumaru 11:11, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

• Proceso de Reorganización Nacional and Dirty War. Although some might argue the two aren't the exact same thing, the content of the respective articles has, without being literally identical, the same scope and cover pretty much the same period of time. • List of film genres, Fictional film, Film style to be all merged into Cinematic genre somehow - the 2 lists are similar but not exact so make sure to not lose anything, the rest is a confusing mish-mash of contradictions and vagueness. Niz 21:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

• Hotspot (wifi) should be merged into Wireless access point. "Hotspot" is a trademark owned by Deutsche Telekom to refer to this technology. Though it is sometimes used as a genericized trademark to refer to all access points, and sometimes used incorrectly to refer to multi-point wireless networks at large locations such as universities; the majority of the information in this article is redundant. --DDG 21:09, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

• Hairshirt should be merged into Cilice, as the latter has more information and images.Benami 10:05, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

• Pro-life into Anti-abortion, then turn pro-life into a redirect to anti-abortion. The latter is more accurate and NPOV. I am also requesting that Pro-choice be moved to Pro-abortion. --Cyde Weys _vote^talk 19:43, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

• Not workable. All four terms mean different things. Not every "pro-choice" person is "pro-abortion". Not every "anti-abortion" person agrees with the political aims of "Pro-Life" campaigners. The terms all have different nuances. "Pro-choice" and "Pro-life" are political stances based on a set of values, often based on secular versus religious beliefs. "Pro-Abortion" and "Anti-abortion" refer to stances on a specific issue. Holding pro- or anti- views on abortion doesn't necessarily mean one is attached to or even supportive of the political campaigns and perspectives underlying the "Pro-choice" and "Pro-life" tags. • Shouldn't all the lawsuits on the Lowell page be on the San Francisco Unified School District page instead, since they're NAACP v. San Francisco Unified School District, Ho v. • Chinese New Years greetings was merged to a section of Chinese New Year and a redirect left at the former (by me). Someone reverted the redirect and then admin-protected it leaving duplicated content. SchmuckyTheCat 23:35, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

• National Wilderness Preservation System should be merged into U.S. Wilderness Area. Although I prefer the title of the former, the latter is the older and more complete article to which many others are already linked. Cuppysfriend 00:05, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

November 2005

• List of New York City television studios seems like it needs to be merged or disambiguated (if that's the right word) with and/or from List of New York City Television and Film studios. I'm a newbie to WP, so please see the comments I gave on both pages. I'm not sure if they should be merged or if two new and completely different articles should be created. • WP:UR and Wikipedia:Bad spam and other helpdesk-l related nonsense are essentially duplicating purposes.   • You're right, they're the same concept. But the Busy waiting aritcle approaches in user space, and from an efficiency point-of-view, whereas Spinlock approches it in kernel space, and as a concurrency control technique. • The section L. Frank Baum#Was the Wizard of Oz a political allegory? is about the book, not the author, so should probably be merged into The Wonderful Wizard of Oz#Scholars' perspective on WOZ as political allegory. • Special Romanian Unicode characters should be merged into Romanian alphabet. The encoding problems of the two characters, namely S-comma and T-comma, have already mentioned in the Romanian alphabet article. • Foreign relations between Japan and China & Sino-Japanese relations: I've unmerged these two because the previous merge was a simple copy-&-paste job, with no consideration of the content (How can the "Concluding Remarks" be in the middle and above the Table of Contents ?). • Les Claypool's Frog Brigade article exists with quite a bit of info, but should be merged into Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade which is the correct title of the band. Static3d 00:15, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

• London Trams and Trams in London could be merged (note comments in talk pages) as much overlap/duplication. If appropriate could divide into periods covering (Trams to closure) and (Trams the new generation - ie Croydon tramlink and other modern developments) appropriatedly cross linked. • Soluble and Solvent ought to be merged into Solution, for it is the same subject which ought to go under a single article in an encyclopedia, so these articles repeat one another. See Discussion page at Talk:Solution. - Centrx 14:16, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

• Rug making should be merged with Carpet, then there is Category:Rugs that is in the wilderness... it could be renamed Carpet making. If there is good cause to maintain Rugs separately from Carpets, then make that clear and institute it as a disambiguation page or prominent cross linking. Rug making & Carpets and particularly how they refer to each other is a bit sloppy, confusing and redundant. • I think toxicity, toxin should be merged. Perhaps also poison, so that the subtle difference between a "toxin" and a "poison" can be explained on the merged page, rather than duplicated on both pages. (toxic already redirects to toxin). --DavidCary 19:24, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • It seems to me that the merge needed is more between poison and toxin as the distinction is subtle and toxins being a subset of poisons. Toxicity is a discussion of how potent poisons and toxins are and could be a section on that page but seems also fine as its own page.

  • there could be a case to leaving them separated[:] firstoff, the two projects use difrent[sic] character encoding[;] secondly the wiki one seems to be along the lins of, if you have x browere[sic], then you might have x problems, where[]as the meta one seems like, there are the known issues with meta. although i think that may just be a diffrence[sic] in style.

• There is great overlap between these two Afghanistan articles: Democratic Republic of Afghanistan and Soviet war in Afghanistan. Worse, they do not agree with each other! TwoOneTwo 22:27, 14 May 2004 (UTC)

Unsigned/undated listings

• HavenCo is an almost identical reiteration of content already included in Sealand, (and which belongs there IMO) with a few additional links. I propose that the links should be merged with the Havenco section of Sealand, and HavenCo then deleted.

• Islamism should be merged into Islam as a political movement

• Italian unification#Italy after the Congress of Vienna (1815) and Historical states of Italy#Italy in the year 1815.

• Jury trial and jury: a lot of material in jury is about the trial process, and should be moved accordingly. US-specific and non-US specific aspects should be sorted out. Jury should keep jury selection, indemnification etc.

• Mass airflow sensor and Mass air meter should be merged. Also I think the former is most commonly referred to with 'Air' and 'Flow' as separate words. Also, should be disambiguated from MAF

• Metal Slug X is a retooled version of the Metal Slug 2 video game. The articles contain mostly the same information aside from the minor diferences and should be merged. manmonk

• Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania should be merged with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania according to what seems to be a general policy for having a single article for conterminous entities: San Francisco County, California redirects to San Francisco, California; Nantucket County, Massachusetts redirects to Nantucket, Massachusetts; Kings County, New York redirects to Brooklyn, etc.

• Posadas and La Posada contain similar content, descriving the Mexican holiday tradition. These should be merged, and a redirect set up from one to the other. Las Posadas is already redirecting to La Posada.

• Postposition and adposition I think this article should be merged with adposition along with preposition. Currently, adposition is merely a stub, and even if we include the quite large corpus of text in preposition, it still wouldn't be too big to handle. Especially if we try limit the amount of examples. Adposition is the combined term and since placement is the only thing differing the various "-position", it doesn't seem all that useful to keep separate articles on them. At least not until it's grown too large to be housed in one article.

• Rules of war in Islam: the article is subet to the article on Jihad

• Sparta (city), Wisconsin should be merged into Sparta, Wisconsin. The information about the "city" is more accurate, and there is not a separate town and city.

• Taboo Tuesday into WWE (per VfD)
  • VfD decided, but I suggest perhaps merging with list of WWE Pay-Per-View events, all better yet leaving alone. Przepla 22:20, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)

• Transmission (automobile)/automatic transmission/gearbox/transmission (mechanics)/manual transmission—some should be merged, others split off
  • I merged Transmission (automobile) into transmission (mechanics), before checking this page. Maybe it would be better to add automatic transmission and manual transmission back into Transmission (automobile). --Key45 20:58, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

• U.S. Far East Air Force, U.S. Army Forces Far East, Philippine Army Air Corps, Philippine Department, Offshore Patrol—need to be rationalised somehow
