Yes is the brand name of YTL Corporation’s foray into the telecommunications industry in Malaysia. Yes promises to be the fastest 4G internet with voice and is set for commercial launch on the 19th of November 2010. Yes claims to have speeds of 3 to 5 times faster than current 3G networks and will be using the 018 prefix for its voice services. While pricing is not yet available, Yes will use a utility model for billing and promises to have the lowest rates for data, sms and voice in Malaysia. At launch, its voice service will also enjoy interconnectivity with the other Malaysian telecommunication networks, allowing Yes customers to make and receive calls with other conventional networks. At launch, their coverage area would span 65% of Peninsular Malaysia including major cities, towns, highways and secondary roads. One of the highways that will receive coverage is the North-South highway which links Malaysia’s northern most and southern most states. The service will also be on the high speed KLIA Express. A high speed train that links Kuala Lumpur city with Kuala Lumpur International Airport. As a Mobile WiMAX provider, Yes uses Yes ID, a username authentication method that does not require the use of sim cards. It is also an all-IP network that is designed with to provice a faster and more reliable mobile internet experience with 100% digital, Quality-of-Service (QoS) voice calls. Other services which are currently in the pipeline includes a HDTV service were they have partnered with Sezmi. Yes is a product of YTL Communications in partnership with Cisco, Clearwire, GCT and Samsung.

4G WiMAX Network

YTL has branded its WiMAX network '4G', although this is potentially confusing to customers. The ITU-R definition of 4G is a download speed potential of 1Gb/second, which Yes's WiMAX network does not currently achieve. '4G' is purely a marketing term as the deployed network is merely newer and more advanced than current 3rd generation mobile technology—thus is in-between 3G and true 4G technology. It is more accurately termed as pre-4G.

Devices

As at launch date, Yes devices available are the Yes Go USB dongle and Yes Huddle Wi-Fi mobile hotspot. Other products to come include a Yes 4G phone called the Yes Buzz and a home/office WiFi gateway called the Yes Zoom.
