Death

MSNBC is reporting he was fatally shot at the 2011 Tucson shooting. Is there confirmation? I don't see any news sources online yet. --Muboshgu (talk) 20:40, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was just a similar report/comment on the BBC but it isn't really confirmed as yet, but it doesn't look good, suggest taking our time with this and waiting for an official announcement. Off2riorob (talk) 20:47, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fox News is now reporting that Roll may not be dead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.228.97.2 (talk) 20:57, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CNN is running a headline quoting President Obama that Roll is dead.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 22:09, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It can be added, then, with the source. It still must comply with BLP and be sourced. That's all. --Kleopatra (talk) 22:17, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I also heard from Obama that Roll is dead (as piped through live from the White House by CNN). — Rickyrab | Talk 22:30, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I added a source. The problem was the source used did not link directly to the Obama press conference, that rolled up, if you stayed on the page, after the first press conference which did not mention Roll at all. We have to source information correctly in BLPs. --Kleopatra (talk) 22:35, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

reports of Death Threats for a 2009 opinion

Anyone think this fact would be notable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lingust (talkcontribs) 20:51, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Assassinated

Is it POV to say that Roll was assassinated? — Rickyrab | Talk 22:33, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, there is already media reports that he was assassinated. [1] --Þadius (talk) 23:43, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is. Most sources report this as a shooting, we have no confirmation of motives. If anything, it's more likely Giffords was the target. "Shot" is the most accurate and neutral word we can use. Trebor (talk) 23:47, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Roll wasn't scheduled to be at the event. He just happened to live near the supermarket and swung by to say hello; he was almost certainly shot as a random bystander. THF (talk) 23:55, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
