Mike'd Up: Francesser on the Fan (began 2 September 2008) is an afternoon drive sports radio program based out of WFAN in New York City that features Mike Francesser. The show is simulcast on the YES Network, under a different title, The Mike Francesser Show.[1] The show is the successor of the first nationally known radio sports team in the history of sports talk radio, The Mike and the Mad Dog program that ran from 5 September 1989 until 15 August 2008 when Francesa's partner, Christopher Russo left to start his own solo show.[2]
Show format
The show's name is "Mike'd Up: Francesser on the FAN." Francesa has a TV show on WNBC entitled Mike'd Up: The Francesser Sports Final, and WFAN had to secure permission from WNBC to use the name "Mike'd Up".[3]
The format of the show is similar to Mike and the Mad Dog with Francesa giving his opinions on the major sports stories of the day as well as answering calls from sports fan. During a given week, Francesser brings on guests from various arenas in sport from head coaches/managers in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and NCAA, athletes, broadcasters and sports writers from major newspapers across the country.
Broadcast times
The program airs from 1:00 to 6:30 p.m. on WFAN, WLLD-HD3 in Tampa Bay, WOCL-HD3 in Orlando, WEAT-HD3 in West Palm Beach, WJFK-FM-HD3 in Washington, D.C. and the YES Network.
