Kalaignar TV (Template:Lang-ta) is a Tamil language satellite television channel based in Chennai, India.

History

After disputes between Kalanithi Maran and M. K. Azhagiri, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi launched this channel on September 15 (DMK Founder Anna's Birthday) 2007 with funds from Sivasankaran.[1] He also launched Tamil Music channel named Isai Aruvi in January 2008 and then "Kalaignar Seithigal" (news channel), "Siripoli" (comedy channel) to compete with Sun Network, but ended up in the third position after Sun Network and Vijay TV.[2]
