Nickname
Sydius is not a reference to Darth Sidious, but is an original creation. Created in the late 1990's, it was an attempt to create unique yet catchy nickname, after several years of using the much more common Syris.
Syd is the short form of Sydius, and is often use in discussions or games. Syd, or rather Cid, is the original inspiration for the name, after the Cid character from the Final Fantasy series of console games. It was spelled differently to increase the likelihood of originality and extended to the full form for the same purpose.
Sydius.net, sydius.org, sydius.com, and sydius.name are all owned by Chris. Chris also has a custom California license plate with the nickname on it.
Wikipedia interests
Ultima articles, particularly for Ultima Online, have been the primary focus of this Wikipedian. Articles relating to game development and computer science are also of interest, especially cryptology, MUDs, programming languages and web standards.
