RAK Airways is the national airline of Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven states in the United Arab Emirates.[1] The airline has relaunched operations in 2010 under a new livery and new management.[2]

History

RAK Airways was founded in 2006 and launched operations early in 2007 with two Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Boeing and RAK Airways signed a 1.6 billion dirham deal for four 737-800s, with further purchase rights with the first aircraft available to be taken on delivery in 2011.[2]

In 2010, the airline announced that it will be resuming operations with a "value-for-money" business model, aiming to position itself between full-service and low-cost carriers.[3] RAK Airways is the first Middle Eastern airline to actively use social media to engage with its passengers, via mediums such as Twitter and Facebook.[citation needed]

RAK Airways currently serves the following, with more destinations planned to be added:
