The 2011 Pittsburgh Steelers season will be the team's 79th season as a professional sports franchise and as a member of the National Football League (NFL). It is expected to be the twelfth season under the leadership of general manager Kevin Colbert and the fifth under head coach Mike Tomlin. The Steelers will attempt to return to the Super Bowl and defend their AFC championship from 2010, when they finished 12–4 and won the AFC North division.. The Steelers will play all of their home games at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

However, the playing of the 2011 NFL season is contingent upon the adoption of a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the league owners and the National Football League Players Association, the players' labor union. There will be a work stoppage if there is no CBA in place, which may, depending on how long it lasts, shorten or cancel the entire season.

Opponents

Per the NFL's scheduling formula, the Steelers will play two games against each of their division rivals, a game against each team in the AFC South and NFC West, as well as a game against the first place teams from the AFC East and AFC West based on their 2010 finish. Exact dates and times for the games are expected to be announced in April.
