Revision as of 13:58, 10 February 2011

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protect. Repeated attempts IP vandalism, does not conform to BOLP policy and potentially libelious; has been reverted by various different editors but keeps removing sources, altering material, etc.. LiteraryEditor (talk) 08:57, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection. Edit warring. This has spilled over from the now deleted template Template:Palestine foreign relations and shows no sign of stopping any time soon. Suggest temporary full protection to hopefully force discussion and consensus building on talk page. Dpmuk (talk) 13:38, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting semi-protection because the article has recently attracted vandalism and other bad edits from IP editors. PKT(alk) 12:53, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. GedUK  13:27, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection vandalism, Too many users editing and adding their names for promotion. Maybe full protection for one week?. Novice7 | Talk 12:52, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Semi should do, all the registered editors aren't autoconfirmed yet, and I'd be surprised if they came back if they see it's protected. GedUK  13:25, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temp move-protection. Several editors have taken it upon themselves to attempt to move the page in violation of consensus, naming conventions and common usage. --The Circle That Must Be Broken (talk) 09:35, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: There appears to have been some sockpuppetry involved at this article, and particularly wrt article moves. —Jeremy (v^_^v Hyper Combo K.O.!) 09:42, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there were some socks of a banned user hanging about that page (ironically trying to keep the POV pushers at bay), but they seem to be gone now. --The Circle That Must Be Broken (talk) 09:57, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It would be very good for an uninvolved admin to look at this. The user requesting protection has just done a non-admin closure of a requested move of the page in question, a discussion in which we were both involved, moved the page and left a note on my talk page to which I will reply there. Andrewa (talk) 12:49, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection vandalism, Target of a POV SPA block evader. Saddhiyama (talk) 09:22, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. GedUK  13:13, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism. Suggest semi-protecting until after the NCAA basketball season ends in April.TM

Pending-changes protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. There seem to be as many constructive anonymous edits as disruptive ones, so pending changes protection may be the best way to go. If it isn't working out, re-request semi-protection. ~Amatulić (talk) 07:56, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pending Changes if its being granted at this time. If not then Semi protect due to a disruptive IP. STATic message me! 04:12, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. I am skeptical that pending-changes protection would be effective here. ~Amatulić (talk) 07:52, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect. Months-long anon IP vandalism; has been reverted by various different editors but keeps removing sources, altering material, etc.. Middayexpress (talk) 22:31, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. ~Amatulić (talk) 07:48, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotect. Semi-Protect (no expiration) was placed over two years ago; protecting admin no longer a user. Boris n' Bosko (talk) 03:35, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, Very, very nasty troll here. Not going to happen Courcelles 07:27, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

Temporary move-protection. Both articles have been the subject of numerous recent undiscussed page moves (typically moving Team Lotus to <something else> and then moving Lotus Racing to Team Lotus), resulting in hundreds of broken links. (Some background: A Formula One racing team named "Team Lotus" operated from 1958 to 1994. A new team called "Lotus Racing" participated in Formula One in 2010. For 2011, "Lotus Racing" is seeking to operate under the name "Team Lotus". The matter is currently the subject of a legal dispute. The consensus at WikiProject Formula One is that the articles should retain their current names until the legal dispute is resolved (which should occur in March). Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Recent spat of IP vandalism. Page has never been protected before. I dream of horses (T) @ 00:19, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Vandalism has been sporadic in the past few months, and the recent increase isn't enough to warrant semi-protection. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:24, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protect. IP BLP vandalism. A fortnight at the max. Thanks Wifione ....... Leave a message 00:04, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect. continued disruptive editing, editing done by unknown IPs, quite keen on adding the word 'tender'. Original IP has been warned and has since 10:48 this morning CET switched to 10 different IPs. Since warnings are useless, a semi-protection should do the trick. Semi-protect. After a quiet period, seems to be back to weekly vandalism. Last protect was a year ago (for three days) and did not seem to deter vandals for the rest of the year. DanielPenfield (talk) 22:07, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
