Keeping Up with the Kardashians is an American reality television series airing on E! that premiered on October 14, 2007.

Overview

Tabloid protagonist Kim Kardashian and her colorfully blended family, which includes step-dad Bruce Jenner, are the subjects of this reality series that chronicles their often chaotic domestic life together. Although the family members frequently are at odds, more or less the Kardashian sisters, always support one another in the end.

Kourtney Kardashian 1– Main cast Kris and Robert's oldest daughter. She co-owns a women's boutique, named D-A-S-H, with her sisters in Calabasas, California and Miami, Florida and now New York, New York as well as co-owned the now-closed clothing store Smooch with Kris. She was featured in the reality television show Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive. She and her boyfriend Scott have a baby son, Mason Dash Disick. Born April 18, 1979.
Kim Kardashian 1– Main cast Kris and Robert's second daughter. In 2007, a sex tape with her and her then-boyfriend Ray J was leaked, causing her to sue Vivid Entertainment for ownership of the tape. She co-owns D-A-S-H and is the producer of an E! reality series, The Spin Crowd. She was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. She launched her first perfume in 2009 and has endorsement deals with bebe, GNC (which makes QuickTrim) and ShoeDazzle. Born October 21, 1980.
Khloé Kardashian Odom 1– Main cast Kris and Robert's youngest daughter. She is married to Los Angeles Lakers player, Lamar Odom. She co-owns D-A-S-H, was arrested in 2007 for a DUI, and appeared in a nude photo shoot for PETA's "I'd Rather Go Naked than Wear Fur" campaign. She was also a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice. Born June 27, 1984.
Rob Kardashian 1– Main cast Kris and Robert's only son. After finishing USC business school in 2008, he founded his own skin care company called "Perfect Skin." Born March 17, 1987.
Kendall Jenner 1– Main cast Kris and Bruce's oldest daughter. Kendall models with agency 'Whilemena Models'. born November 3, 1995.
Kylie Jenner 1– Main cast Kris and Bruce's youngest daughter, born August 10, 1997.Kylie was first featured in Paper magazine's "The Beautiful People" with sister Kendall Jenner. She broke out into the lime light with her acting/modeling debut with Sears, "Crush Your Style". She is pursuing her modeling career by doing photo shoots with O.K.! Magazine, Teen Vogue , and famous photographer Nick Saglimbeni. Kylie is a mystery to the public eye, since she says she would "like to try acting too,but college comes first."
Scott Disick 1– Supporting cast Kourtney's boyfriend and Mason's father. The family often argues over Kourtney's choice of staying with Scott. Born May 26, 1983.
Mason Disick 4– Main Cast Kourtney and Scott's son. He was born on December 14, 2009 and weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz. He made his first appearance on the series during the fourth season's finale. Born December 14, 2009.
Lamar Odom 4– Supporting cast Khloé's husband, plays as a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers. Born November 6, 1979.
Adrienne Bailon 2–4 Supporting cast Adrienne started dating Rob in season 2 and they were living together on season 3. Even when they broke up (season 4), Adrienne kept appearing in several episodes as a friend of the family. She attended Khloe's wedding in season 4. She also appeared in the second last episode of season 5 when the family went to New York. Born October 24, 1983.
Reggie Bush 2–4 Supporting cast Kim's then-boyfriend, plays for the New Orleans Saints. Born March 2, 1985.

Ratings

The show was an instant hit for E! – in its first month on the air it became the highest-rated series on Sunday nights among women aged 18 to 34 and was also seen by 1.3 million total viewers.[2] The second season continued the success and was viewed by 1.6 million viewers, a 23% increase from the first season.[3]

The fourth season's premiere, The Wedding, became the highest rated episode in the series history with nearly 3.2 million viewers and also brought in the highest rating in the women 18-34 demographic E! had ever had.[4] The second episode of the season topped the success of the premiere and became the new highest rated episode in the series with 4.1 million viewers.[5] This record was then broken for a third time by the season finale with 4.8 million viewers – which also made the episode the most watched broadcast ever in E!'s history.[6]

Spin-offs

In April 2009, it was announced that a spin-off, originally titled Kourtney and Khloé in Miami,[7] would premiere in August that same year and that the show would follow the two sisters as they open a second D-A-S-H store in Miami. The series premiered to 2.7 million[8] viewers and averaged 1.89 million[9] viewers. A second season began in June 2010 and averaged 2.717 million viewers, a 43% increase from the first season.

In October 2010, the official E! website announced that a second spin-off, titled Kourtney and Kim Take New York, was about to begin filming in New York and is scheduled to air in January 2011. The show will be similar to Miami as Kourtney and Kim will oversee the opening of a third D-A-S-H store, which is located in SoHo.[10] The show premiered on January 23.
