Kashoo marked for deletion?
Hello Alpha Quadrant,

I am writing to inquire about specific reasons why the company I have written an article about has been nominated for quick deletion. The company called Kashoo is a fairly new but very relevant for a number of reasons. One of them being that they have created an open source project at their core. This project uses reflection and dependency injection and is way out on the front of what is happening in Java development. They are the very first (and only) Facelets-like implementation for GWT. I tried to point this out in the article but maybe it was not seen as significant because there is a lack of understanding about software development?

As a caveat, I run my own company (beloud.ca) and use this product. I chose to write an article about them on Wikipedia after noting that they were not included in the comparison of accounting software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_accounting_software). In order to have them listed in this list I was told that I needed to make an article. I followed the guidelines the best I could and had my first attempts deleted immediately. I created this article on the discussion page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Kashoo) so that I may have a discussion about how to improve the article in order to get it included. I have not received comments or discussion and rather just default note citing it for quick deletion.

I have outlined the open source component that makes this company relevant (not to mention they are an emerging market leader in a newly defined area of SaaS). And I have also linked to articles from non-trivial sources (Google, Yahoo and Business Week). What is wrong with my approach? These guys have been so great to me I really think they should be included in the comparison of accounting software. I would also like to note that after auditing the other companies included in this list, comparing accounting software, there are at the very least 26 companies that fall short of even the simplest criteria you lay fourth - how is it that they are included?

I would really appreciate any advice or help you could give to get this article listed.

Thanks very much for taking the time.

Best regards,

Christopher.

Here is a list Wiki articles on accounting software companies that fall short of the criteria laid out to me. Some of them are extremely blatant with no referencing articles at all and others with self referential material:

Hello, I declined the submission because it was an exact copy from the Internet Movie Database. The source you copied was copyrighted. Articles should be written in your own words. If you do this there should be no problem accepting the article. However, you should cite more than one source. (see WP:ONESOURCE) If you would like any help writing it I would be happy to help. Robert J. Shaw was not accepted immediately even though it was a good page for this site. What about other good pages?:1, 2 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.94.105.49 (talk) 17:00, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/jacqueline babbin just needs some style fixes before it is accepted. The other copy was declined as a duplicate. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/A.J. IRC chat

Hello, there is an upcoming, very informal discussion on IRC on the freenode channel ##chzzalpha connect (quick webchat link) on the 6th March 2011 at 17:00 UTC concerning ways to improve help over IRC, and other matters relating to Wiki?edia channels in general, but mostly about #wikipedia-en-help.

This is just a friendly, informal chat. Nothing official, no fixed agenda. There is nothing 'secretive' about it - anyone is quite welcome. Some of you had a chat there, the other day. We wanted to invite them to carry on discussions, at a prearranged time - and thought it courteous to ask group contacts and channel founders too. Or if you signed up manually.

If you aren't at all interested, feel free to remove yourself from the names we've spammed this to, which is in User:123Hedgehog456/IRC informal chat users. If you didn't sign up, well, people have been adding loads of names to the list, so someone might have accidentally added your name.

Article review

Hi, could you please check an article I wrote? It's called Price theory: economics is mistaken it's on my personal page Fabian Colinas as an article for discusion, thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabian Colinas (talkcontribs) 02:25, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your article is rather good, but it written in a essay-like tone. It should be written in a Neutral point of view and should also avoid original research. Matterhorn: A Novel of the Vietnam War is a good example of how book articles should be formatted. I hope that helps you, Alpha Quadrant talk 02:44, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. What do you think of my article now? FC 23:20, 4 March 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabian Colinas (talkcontribs)

I think it very well written now, the tone is correct, it is properly styled. You could probably move it to mainspace now. Best, Alpha Quadrant talk 23:37, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings! I see that you moved Larry Cox to Larry Cox (baseball catcher) today, turning the former into a disambiguation page. Have you got a bot working on fixing the incoming links to Larry Cox? Most, if not all, of them appear to refer to the catcher. —C.Fred (talk) 00:07, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't have a bot, however I am going to fix all of the links with Auto Wiki Browser once I finish adding the Find and Replace entry. I should have it fixed shortly. Best, Alpha Quadrant talk 00:12, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious...

I'm a bit curious, how did you get the page title for your userpages to display as something other than the default? It looks quite nifty! Sophus Bie (talk) 15:44, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I use . Ajusting the parameters will change the look. For example, changing #000070 to #65FF00 would make it lime green. <span style="display:none">User:</span> hides the User: prefix. I hope that helps you. Best, Alpha Quadrant talk 15:50, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that's neat! I didn't know one could do that. Thanks for reminding me about magic words; I had forgotten about them! Sophus Bie (talk) 16:01, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts to Video CD

Why not keep an encyclopedia as vague as possible. You may have noticed that some of the points are even covered further on and even in linked articles.

Also Video CD is completely incompatible with DVD. They are not even emotely similar. Most (if not all) DVD videoo players will play Video CD, but only because they contain the firmware to do so. 86.135.169.81 (talk) 17:52, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair comment. Actually, it is a fact. I included it as a comment, in case someone should try and edit it back. The fact that DVD video players play Video CD may lead the less informed to believe that they are fully compatible (which is in fact what the article said before I corrected it). 86.135.169.81 (talk) 18:04, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

prod-nn notice for NE0N

I agree with you that NE0N doesn't not meet WP:CSD#G3; however, I can't seem to find anything about it in independent, reliable sources to indicate notability. I've tagged the page with prod-nn and left a message on the creator's talk page.—C45207 | Talk 23:04, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I was merely challenging the CSD, I agree that it doesn't appear to be notable. Alpha Quadrant talk 02:23, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
