He is still close friends with Malcolm-Jamal Warner, even after he was "cut" from the Cosby Show when he refused to get a hair cut despite (Bill) Cosby's insistence. In 1992 he married Melika, and is now Stepfather to singer Bobby Brown's oldest son, 16 year old Landon. He also has two other sons.

Carl Anthony Payne II was born May 24, 1969 in Clinton, South Carolina. He studied in The School of Performing Arts New York, New York and Howard University Washington DC.
