Herbert James Craig was the son of prominent Newcastle upon Tyne Liberal politician James Craig. Elected as a 'Liberal' MP in the 1906 Liberal landslide, he was MP for Tynemouth until the 'coupon' election of 1918. Craig also was the proprietor of a newspaper.[clarification needed]
