Hersham is a village in Surrey, England although with a population of 20,000 it is larger than most other towns in Surrey.

The Village

Hersham has a growing population and people from Hersham are proud of their "village"!

Hersham is where town meets country, a fine local shopping centre overlooks Hersham Green, Three and a half acres of open space where regular events take place throughout the summer months. Within a few minutes walk of the built-up area of Hersham are green fields and meadows alongside the River Mole and open countryside.

House prices vary from small bedsits at £139,000 to popstar mansions at £10 million.

Many stars use the Hersham Village Golf Club where Singer Kenny Lynch is the president.

The "pop" group Sham69 has it's home roots in Hersham.

Queen Victoria wrote in her diary how she saw her first steam train in Hersham when she was a young girl.

King George III visited Weylands farm in Hersham where the first Drill Plough was evented and he saw demonstration.

Hersham is frequently is for location filming for film and television productions including Nighty Night, The Glass, Monty Python and Being April.

Transport

It is served by Hersham Station and Walton-on-Thames Station both on the main London Waterloo Southwest line.
