A Hair roller is a small roller used in hair care for styling and curling hair, and with a blowdryer. It can be made from foam or plastic covered with velcro.
Hair curling
Hair rollers work by breaking down the hair's hydrogen bonds, found in the hair's cortex, which cause hair to bend and become curly. Once the bonds are broken, hair is prevented from holding its original, natural form; however, the hydrogen bonds can re-form if exposed to moisture.
Electric hair rollers
Electric hair rollers are also called Heated rollers. A heated roller is a tool used to curl the hair with the help of the heat. There are different diameter of hair rollers. The roller's diameter can be anywhere from 0.8 inches (20 mm) to 1.4 inches (36 mm).Hair rollers are typically used to give shape and volume to a hairstyle.
In 1966, the first electric hair rollers were produced by Panasonic in Japan; these are called Hot curlers.
In 2009 a new heated hair roller system was developed by unil electronics and distributed and sold by Cloud Nine Hair TheO by Cloud Nine Hair. The roller pod heats hair rollers through induction technology and is a considerable advancement in hair roller technology.
