I don't think I've ever seen his name written with the diacriticals, especially the ones over the u and a. I'd suggest a move to Raul Ibanez unless someone can show some sources that use the Spanish spelling. john k (talk) 21:34, 15 April 2011 (UTC) |

:Well, the ñ definitely stays because it's even on his uniform. Yahoo! Sports uses Raúl Ibañez, without the accented A. Sam Walker also uses this spelling in a published work. I think the A's accent is extraneous because I believe that the accented goes on the penultimate syllable by default, and I don't see any sources with the accented A, so I wouldn't see any reason not to dispose of that, UNLESS there are Spanish-language sources that use it. — <span style="color:#B71234">KV5</span> • <span style="color:#00338d">Talk</span> • 21:46, 15 April 2011 (UTC) |

Picture
The grass on the left side of his picture is much whiter than on the right side. Can we get a better picture?--Aquagreen (talk) 22:01, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thats just how the mowing of the field is done, since there are alternating types of grass. Meisfunny Gab 17:51, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
2008 career stats
Someone needs to update Raul's stats and "2008 career": grandslams, hits, RBIs, etc. The last thing said is about 2007 and Vidro replacing him as DH. Also, he was recently nominated for the Clemente Award. :o) Show some love!! ;-P 66.218.203.130 (talk) 21:44, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Major League Debut Q
I'm confused w/ some information on his site: A)"...his major league first game in 1996." and B) Major League Baseball debut: June 24, 1998 for the Seattle Mariners."
Sooooo which is it? 1996 or 1998? Could someone verify and correct if need be? 66.218.203.130 (talk) 21:48, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Signing
Here is a source saying it's official: http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/transactions and according to WP:VERIFY it's good enough a source to put in the article.--Iamawesome800 21:39, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- CBS Sportsline regularly jumps the gun with announcing transactions and is unreliable. If the signing was official, there would be easy to find articles stating so (and not just 'reported agreements').JustSomeRandomGuy32 (talk) 21:49, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- Then why haven't they reported the CC Sabathia agreement?--Iamawesome800 21:54, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- CC has been listed as a Thurs Dec 11 signing.... even though all other sources state that the deal is still pending. --Madchester (talk) 22:01, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- Then why haven't they reported the CC Sabathia agreement?--Iamawesome800 21:54, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
The citation referenced states "nothing is finalized." I have put a hard protection on this article because of the persistence there is to add this information before it is official. Kingturtle (talk) 05:53, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Removing unsourced info
The at-bat song has no source; I was going to remove it yesterday but didn't get a chance at work and then all this craziness with the signing blew up. Any chance someone could take care of this for me? KV5 • Squawk box • Fight on! 14:55, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Not done Please make the request more specific, and only after consensus exists for it. Sandstein 17:47, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- This doesn't have anything to do with the signing, which is the reason behind this page protection; it's simply an unsourced piece of information that doesn't belong in the article because there is no verifiability. What I would like removed is the line "Ibáñez's at-bat music is "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon." That's it; it's not contentious or violating any policies (though it may be violating policies by keeping it in there). With the possibility existing that Ibanez may change teams, the song could change anyway, and it violates WP:TRIVIA. The likelihood of other users coming to discuss is minimal, which is why I asked for it. KV5 • Squawk box • Fight on! 17:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
diacriticals
I don't think I've ever seen his name written with the diacriticals, especially the ones over the u and a. I'd suggest a move to Raul Ibanez unless someone can show some sources that use the Spanish spelling. john k (talk) 21:34, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
