Production
The movie was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico in July through September 2010. Other sets include V.Atrisco Heritage Academy high school. Sue Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.[7] The names of several characters in the book were changed for the film: the character of "Olivia Whitehead" was shortened to simply "Olivia White," "Stella Penn" changed to "Stella Yamada," and "Charlie Hirsh" changed to "Charlie Delgado".
Differences from the book
- In the book, Wen played first trumpet, while in the movie he played the keyboard.[citation needed] - It is shown that Charlie is loud and rambunctious, but in the movie, he was only like that at home, and during school he was much shyer than usual. - In the book Charlie had a brother, Aaron, who was stillborn. In the movie he has a brother in college.

"Somebody" was the first single of the album, premiering on Radio Disney on March 4, 2011. A lyrics music video was released on the Disney website later that same day. On March 18, 2011, the official music video for the song premiered on Disney Channel during a special Prom-themed The Suite Life on Deck.
