Singles

I think personally that it's retarded, but Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums (somewhere on that mess of a page) insists on doing it. So, I'm sorry...oh and that comment below is mine too, from a different user name, so I'll just...um, yeah. The-dissonance-reports 03:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, whoever redid this page did a badass job. Thank you. Iluvchineselit 00:04, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Song samples

I've added some. While I realize there are dozens of VAC songs which would yield excellent samples, I picked three singles and "Slut", a track that's served as a gateway to VAC for many. I hope this doesn't cause any problems and am open to suggestions for amendment. Joshfist 18:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Murder

theyve been credited for influencing some kid to rape and kill a woman then carve the VAC sign in her. more on this?

Huh? Yeah, that would need some serious documentation...unfortunately controversy surrounds darker bands, like the murder where somebody supposedly wrote Bunkertor 7 at the crime scene...The-dissonance-reports 23:18, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Members" table: yes or no?

I was looking at adding all of VAC's contributors, both studio and live, to a table-style format, but I'm concerned that it would make the section less easy to edit for some users. Also, I'd like to know if such a table would be preferred over the old style or not. (Old style is viewable here.) To me, the old style looked off somehow. Please discuss or make your own changes. :) Joshfist 19:47, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think a members table would be pretty sweet. There is already a table at the discography section, so I think it would go nicely. Speaking of the disco section, it says regarding the remix wars that it was a Metropolis Records thing, but I think it was an Off-Beat records thing, and just under license by Metropolis. I don't even think Metropolis released the other remix wars, Wumpscut/Haujobb and Front Line Assembly/Die Krupps. The-dissonance-reports 21:46, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

I'm proposing that this article does not meet Wikipedia Notability standards as defined in Wikipedia:MUSIC. The request for valid sources has gone unmet for over two years and most of the content here seems sourced to the band's own web page. Drelusis (talk) 07:47, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

notability

the section that says it's tagged for deletion says i may remove the message if i object for any reason. i won't do that, but I will say here that I object just because I, myself, know of the band, I think they make really good music (and i'm not even a fan of that genre, per se), and somehow I was under the impression that it's not an extremely unheard-of band. also, I came to Wikipedia looking for useful information on this band (specifically, what genre it's considered to be in), and I found it. Inhahe (talk) 08:33, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, "I know and like the band and wanted to find information here" does not address the Wikipedia:Notability_(music)#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles notability standard in any way.
Notability standard #1 is the only one that would seem to offer any possibility for this band. However, this page consists primarily of material sourced from the band's own pages. The only two external sources are 1) "Last Sigh Magazine," which seems to be online only, and whose reviews page was last updated in 2000 and interviews page, in 2001, and 2) "Sonic Boom," another online-only source that published e-mail interviews from 1995 to 1998. I believe neither of these sources qualify as "reliable" according to Wikipedia:Reliable_sources or non-trivial, and may qualify as self-published sources. Unless reliable, non-trivial sources of coverage can be accessed, that would leave this band without a notability leg to stand on as far as I can tell. If the article is not deleted, it needs a major re-write as eliminating all information from the band's own website would essentially leave it without content.Drelusis (talk) 07:23, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually number 5 is also applicable. "Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)."
Velvet Acid Christ is released by the metropolis label. Which is one of the largest distributers of this kind of music in the US. See: http://www.metropolis-records.com/artists/?artist=velvetac
The band is also a bit popular in certain gothic underground clubscenes. Which is of course hard to prove. Being underground and all that. But the band is certainly notable in the gothic subculture. --Soyweiser (talk) 14:12, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Non-fair use of audio samples

The use of the audio samples in this article does not meet fair-use guidelines. I plan on removing them in the coming days unless additional commentary related to this article is added.

The use of these samples is best done either in the article about the song or, if there is no song article, the album, or as part of a commentary that crosses multiple songs or albums. This commentary should not be trivial or exist just as an excuse to have the clip: The commentary should drive the need for the clip, not vice-versa. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 18:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of albums

Unless this band is famous, only albums and songs which are notable in their own right should have articles. The rest can either be mentioned in this article or in a "Discography of Velvet Acid Christ" article, but there is no need for articles.

I checked most or all the articles linked from here and none of them made any claim of notability other than being VAC material. This leaves those articles vulnerable to deletion. Far better to go ahead and turn those that aren't notable into redirects to here and beef up the rest so there is no question of their notability. I've already made a start with Lust for Blood (album).

Also, consider creating a category to tie all VAC articles together. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 19:27, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge

A merge of Bryan Erickson (musician) into this article seems sensible to me. Any opposition?--Michig (talk) 06:59, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
