Song |
"I Sleep Alone at Night" is Jim Diamond's second solo release after the break-up of his band PhD. It charted at #72 in 1985.
Music video
The music video for the song begins with Diamond walking into a darkened room holding a guitar and approaching a microphone. He begins performing the song with his band in a dark setting, while cutting to clips of Diamond in a bar. While at the bar, he sees the girl who he has lost. Later, the girl is seen buying roasted chestnuts and walking away, at which point Diamond purchases roasted chestnuts from the same place and bumps into the girl. The frame freezes and cuts back to Diamond performing the song. In the final scene, the girl is sitting on her bed looking sad with regret.
The version of the song used in the music video was edited for timing issues. The original recording is 5 minutes in length, whereas the version in the video was cut to 4:16.
