The Bolt Report is an Australian Sunday morning talk show hosted by conservative commentator Andrew Bolt that airs on Network Ten. The programme premiered on 8 May 2011. The first episode involved an interview with Leader of the Opposition Tony Abbott.[1] The show has had troubles finding advertising with even free spots offered being declined due to a grass roots campaign to contact advertisers to complain of a perceived sometimes extreme right wing or offensive bias shown by Andrew.[2]
The show also has a 'Program Psychologist', Sandy Rea. Sandy joins Andrew to give an Independent insight into the way our minds work and the way we feel.
Format
The programme involves panel discussions, interviews, commentary and individual segments including:
- Spin of the Week - a look at the best media spin of the week nominated by readers of his blog
- Free Speech Award - an award given to a high-profile personality who has made a controversial or criticised statement during the week. The inaguaral award went to former Prime Minister, Paul Keating for his description of supporters of Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore as 'sandal-wearing, muesli-chewing, bike-riding pedestrians'
- Poor Taste Award - a award given to a high-profile personality for an offensive statement made during the week. The inaguaral award went to Julia Gillard for a describing Tony Abbott as the 'love child of Sarah Palin and Donald Trump'

Ratings
The series debuted with 163,000 while the encore received 123,000 viewers.[3] The debut was narrowly beaten by Insiders, which received 172,000 viewers.[4] Bolt stated on his blog he would like to beat Insiders.[5] He reached this goal in his second episode, reaching 174,000 viewers, beating Insiders with 166,000.
