Mr Sam Tan Chin Siong (Chinese: 陈振泉) is currently the Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Radin Mas Single Member Constituency (Radin Mas SMC).[1]
Political Career
Sam started his political career with a walkover victory in the 2006 General Election at Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency (Tanjong Pagar GRC).
In 2011, the district within the GRC that he was managing was carved out as Radin Mas Single Member Constituency (Radin Mas SMC). Sam faced challenge only from veteran Yip Yew Weng of the National Solidarity Party after two other political parties ( Reform Party and Singapore Democratic Alliance ) dropped their bids in the SMC.[2]. He won convincing garnering 67.10% of the votes.
Sam was officially declared as Member of Parliament (MP) of Radin Mas SMC for his second term on 9 May 2011.
