Possessed is the fourth album by heavy metal band Venom and the last before the departure of guitarist Jeffrey Dunn. At the time of its release, it did not get very good reviews, not even from the critics who had liked Venom's earlier albums, and it was thought of as being in another league compared to these. This is ironic, since much of the material on Possessed was written before the release of At War with Satan. It is the first Venom album recorded outside of Impulse Studios though, which might have changed the sound somewhat. The song "Possessed" is ranked #14 on the PMRC's "Filthy Fifteen", a list of the 15 songs they found most objectionable. |
