Picture of the day Marie Antoinette and Her Children is an oil-on-canvas painting by the French artist Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, painted in 1787. It shows Marie Antoinette, the consort of King Louis XVI of France, wearing a red velvet gown with a sable lining. Her younger son, the future Louis XVII, sits on her lap, while her daughter Marie-Thérèse leans on her arm. Marie Antoinette's elder son, Louis Joseph, at that time Dauphin of France, is near an empty cradle intended for her younger daughter Sophie, who died before the painting's completion. The work was commissioned by Louis XVI in an effort to improve the public perception of Marie Antoinette, after her reputation was tarnished by the Affair of the Diamond Necklace, by focusing on her role as a queen and a mother; she is depicted with little jewellery. The painting was first shown at the Salon in Paris, to mixed reactions, and is now displayed at the Palace of Versailles.Painting credit: Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun

Carbola Chemical

I noticed you have some posts about the Carbola mine. I'm doing some research on its ownership and liability interests (I know it passed hands, etc.). What information can you give me? Any pictures?

Hello. I don't know much about the Carbola mine or company. Three years ago someone created an article here that wasn't really an article. It was a request for information about the Carbola Chemical Company. Since an information request doesn't qualify as an article, I moved the request to the Reference desk before deleting the (non)article. If you've seen my name in relation to edits about Carbola Chemical, then most likely you've already seen that page. If not, then check that link. Profanity in Can opener

Shortly, I reverted you because I am more comfortable with f**cking than fucking :-) We all know what it means, thus why spelling out. Regarding WP rules on profanity, they say citations should be followed by the source. There are two refs on that phrase. One use the former another the latter spelling, which makes things somewhat obscure, but. The former ref is much more detailed (not on phrasing, but on food rationing :-) and IMO has more chances for long-term survival with f**cking than fucking. Regards. Sure, editing in parallel, right now I am searching info for a very very interesting (but "hard to get") DYK, thats why minutes of delay. My only f**king concern in those reverts was that my intuition tells me Can openers would survive longer with ** in it ;-) Either spelling is Ok. Happy editing.
